Experience
The Boston University Lady Pilots are a force to be reckoned with in the New England Region. In our short history as a team, we have made day two of college regionals three times, placing 5th each year. During the fall, we compete in the Club series, attending Metro Boston Club Sectionals. In 2006, we placed in the top 10 at Northeastern Club Regionals. We also attend as many college tournaments as possible in the fall, including Williams', Brown's and Yale's annual tournaments. We also set up weekly games with other Boston-area teams, known as the "Beanpot" tournament. In the winter, we spend most of our time indoors running and working on our agility. In March, we either attend the High Tide tournament in Savannah, GA (which we won in '04 and '05), or Georgia Southerns (where we came in top 10 despite a high initial seeding). In the Spring, we also have begun flying cross-country to compete in either Trouble in Vegas (in Vegas) or Presidents Day, in (sunny) San Diego, CA. In April and May, we participate in Yale's spring tournament in preparation for Sectionals and Regionals in the following weeks. We are a competitive team which welcomes anyone interested in playing ultimate. We spend the fall teaching the sport to our new players and pushing our experienced players to grow, and we bring everything together in the spring for a strong finish in the College Series.
Funding
Our team has received more funding each year since our inception, as our program is growing and becoming more accomplished, and has a great rapport with our administration for being organized and respectful. Out of pocket expenses are relatively low, as we do a lot of fundrasing and subsidize costs as much as possible.
Goals
We are a young and athletic team which encourages spirited and competitive play while working towards constant individual and team improvement. We are always pushing ourselves and our team to improve, with our eyes on becoming a nationals contender. We have been coached by members of elite teams in the region for the past two years and we expect to continue this tradition in the future. Our team's main goal is to ensure that every woman who comes through our team leaves with basic skills and an understanding of the game, while giving those who want to take our game to the next level a chance to grow and play with the best competition in the region. As our team manifesto states, "We play hard, we win some games, we have fun, and we uphold the 'spirit of the game.'"
