Experience |
Brown Women's Ultimate fields two teams every year. Our A team, Disco Inferno, has been a national contender for more than ten years and plays in tournaments across the country. Our B team, Pitay Da Fool (PFools), plays in more local tournaments and is a great way to get into the game no matter your level of experience. |
Funding |
The team is well-funded by the University through the Athletics Department, receiving approximately $12,000 per year. The A team usually flies to 1 - 3 tournaments each spring, making our highest expenses airfare, hotels, and car rentals. A team players are asked to pay for their own flights; the team covers all other costs with funds from the University, alumni donations, and merchandise sales. Airfare is generally a couple hundred dollars each tournament, and we use team funds to make up any portion of the costs that individual players cannot pay themselves. B team members pay very little, about $50-100 over an entire season. All players must also cover their own equipment costs for cleats, jerseys, and discs they wish to own. |
Goals |
Women's Ultimate at Brown is one of those rare examples of what the word "community" really means. In the heat of competition and under the pressures to excel, the women of this team come together to be a stronger unit than they could ever be by themselves. This team will always bear the tradition of love and spirit, fun and adventure, as well as competition and athleticism. |
