Today was Tuesday, which means many of the campers and counselors wore an abundance of pink! The morning session started off with a mental toughness exercise about making good choices. Teams then worked on individual strategies for the tournament and were able to fit in a scrimmage before the women’s game. Right before the women’s game started, it began to rain. Undeterred, the female campers and counselors played an intense game as their peers cheered on. Before heading to lunch, the campers received their team jerseys and took an all-camp photo, as well as team photos.
The Disc Olympics started during the afternoon session with the distance and most-time-aloft competitions. Following these contests, the teams had some team time to fine-tune their strategies before they played the first round of the tournament.
The evening concluded with a gender equity meeting, during which campers discussed the meaning of gender equity, how it pertains to sports in general and also specifically Ultimate. Most importantly, the discussions included steps that all the campers can take to become better advocates for women in sports.
