The first full day of camp started with a 6:30am fire drill, meaning that all the campers and counselors were wide awake to enjoy breakfast prior to the morning session. During the morning session, counselors led the entire camp through good push-up form, good throwing form, and through a mental toughness exercise. They also helped each camper improve their throwing form before moving into an active drill. The rest of the morning session continued with an explanation and drill on the reset, as well as scrimmage time. One of the counselors is a certified strength and conditioning coach and led the entire camp through some linear sprint form drills to conclude the morning.
After lunch, campers learned about effective marking, well-timed deep cuts, and correct cutting form. They had an opportunity to improve these skills in drills before applying them to a games situation during their afternoon scrimmages. The afternoon session finished with camp-wide sprints.
Following the afternoon session, the campers had rec hour and many chose to go to the pool before eating a hearty meal at dinner. In the evening, the campers found out their tournament teams for the week and spent some time getting to know them and thinking about their individual and team goals for the week. Afterwards, the teams took part in a series of fun competitions for the right to choose their jersey colors.
