“Training Your Team to Be Mentally Resilient”

Ultimate coaches and captains often focus on teaching skills, drills and strategy to their teams. While the physical aspects of team building are important, we believe that developing a strong mental game is essential to reach consistent success, no matter what kind of team you coach. Tiina and Tulsa will explain the foundational pieces of mental resilience and how to train individuals and your team to excel with this program.

This course is designed for leaders of middle school, high school, college and club teams. It will also be recorded and available to participants after the course.

“Beyond the Basics of Mental Resilience” (NEW)

This course is designed as a follow-up to “Training Your Team to be Mentally Resilient.”  Participants should have a working knowledge of the basics of mental training, including visualization, the physiology of competition and how to reach peak performance. Ideally participants will have attended our introductory presentation and implemented some of our practices as a coach or team leader.

What does mental resilience mean as your team moves into more demanding levels of competitions? How do the mental traps change? As the stakes become higher, how can every player and coach contribute to the overall mental strength of the team when it is needed the most? Tiina and Tulsa will introduce real life case studies as well as rely on participants to bring their own examples to class.

This class will also be recorded and available to participants after the course.

“College Recruiting Panel” (NEW)

Every session at NUTC, campers and parents are greeted with a sign that says, “Colleges Represented at Camp This Week.” We encourage staff to answer any questions about playing opportunities beyond high school and our alumni counselors are eager to share and recruit.

This panel is our attempt to open this experience to more high school athletes who may not attend our camp. Discussions will be led by graduates and coaches of 10 schools from around the country. We will have reps from both Div 1 and Div 2 who will be happy to answer any questions. In addition, attendees will have access to an ebook with information from these schools and others. Parents are most welcome at this session.

Ultimate may not be an NCAA sport but we do understand the importance of making the right match for aspiring players. We hope this panel will help inform these decisions for many years to come!

Current List of Colleges Represented:

Colorado College, Middlebury, Mt. Holyoke, Northeastern, Pitt, St Olaf, Tufts, UCLA, UMass, Vassar

“Simple Solutions for Complex Problems on Your Ultimate Team” (NEW)

Let’s be honest. Regardless of the level of the team, ultimate coaches and leaders often share the same challenges. How do you increase buy-in? How do you hold players accountable on and off the field? How can you design practices that closely mimic actual competition? Which strategies should you use to best take advantage of the strengths of your team?

Tiina and Tim will analyze the most common problems that teams face. While these may originally appear to be complex and nuanced issues, Tiina and Tim will offer simple and clear solutions that will put your team back on the road to success. Participants will also be asked to share their own case studies.

This course is designed for leaders of middle school, high school, college and club teams. It will also be recorded and available to participants after the course.

“FMP Grassroots Summit” (NEW)

Teams that serve FMPs have not rebounded from the pandemic. If players have managed to stay together, they are often behind in skill development and experience. This summit invites everyone who plays in, coaches or cares about FMP divisions to join us for a meeting that will address these challenges. We will identify the most common problems for the first hour and then embrace solutions in the last. We hope that everyone will be inspired to commit to “one small thing” that will help turn this trend around. Let’s engage with grassroots activism once again.
